A fintech and wireless industry pioneer with over 25 years of experience, Winfrey joined SurgePays through its 2019 acquisition of ECS Prepaid, a company he founded. Since then, he has contributed to transforming SurgePays’ go-to-market strategy, expanding the prepaid business platform, scaling the ISO channel, and preparing the Company’s LinkUp Mobile MVNO for a direct market launch with AT&T.
Prior to joining SurgePays, Winfrey served as president of Electronic Check Services (ECS), a company providing merchants and ISO channel partners with a comprehensive suite of check processing services. He also founded and served as president of ECS Prepaid, a business offering prepaid cellular phone reloads, bill payments, gift cards, and loyalty programs. To facilitate the processing of ECS Prepaid, Winfrey conceptualized and assisted in the launch of Softgate Systems, a fintech product processing company, in 2007. During his tenure as president of Softgate Systems until 2009, the company experienced a nearly 110% increase in volume by providing processing services to 12 additional companies, in addition to both ECS and ECS Prepaid. Softgate Systems was subsequently acquired by In Person Payments (IPP) in 2009.
As president of SurgePays, Winfrey has overseen the creation and launch of LinkUp Mobile, as well as the day-to-day operations of the SurgePays team, including the Company’s operations center in El Salvador.
